BY CAR 🚙

Copenhagen Airport (Kastrup) will be the easiest airport to fly into for most guests, with direct flights from most UK airports.From here, there are direct trains from inside the airport over into Sweden to Malmö or Trelleborg. Malmö Sturup Airport is an alternative airport option, although with no direct flights from the UK.

BY PLANE ✈️

Car Hire 🚗

If you are planning to hire a car during your time in Sweden, we would recommend taking the train from Copenhagen airport to Malmo Hyllie or Central station and then hiring a car from here. This will avoid you having to pay the Øresund Bridge fee as well as avoiding the car hire charge for crossing into another country.There is a Hertz, Avis, Budget &amp; Europcar just outside Malmo central station.

From Copenhagen Airport there is a train directly to Malmo Hyllie Train station which takes approx 20 minutes and goes very frequently.From Malmo Hyllie station a short connecting train will take you to Trelleborg (nearest town to the venue).Train tickets can be bought from the stands within the airport or alternatively via the Skånetrafiken app (link below).

Toast masters - or Masters of Ceremony - are crucial roles to guide the wedding day and keep us all on schedule.The wonderful mix of the English and Swedish clans present means that we need equally wonderful people to steer the ship.

Siri Mårtensson 

Siri is your Toast Madame for the weekend. Between a day job as an anaesthetist in Stockholm and spending time volunteering as a doctor in sub-saharan Africa, she has been toast master at more weddings than the bride and groom has had birthdays. To quote Siri 'I would be more stressed not being toast master than actually doing it'.

Toby Woods

Toby is your Toast Master for the weekend. His full-time job in London as an intelligence expert in middle-eastern affairs doesn't keep him away from writing 12th century historical fiction at night. He's seen the inside of more pubs than the bride and groom have had hot dinners, an experience that will get him far at Åkarp. In response to being asked to be toastmaster, he replied: 'I love herring, I love schnapps and I love weddings. This is perfect'.

Beaches 

The coastline of Skåne, aka the 'Swedish Riviera', offers some of the most beautiful beaches in Sweden. Some of our personal favourite spots; Skanör-Falsterbo AKA the Hamptons of Skåne. This upmarket area of the coastline consists of two old towns (Skanör and Falsterbo) that have essentially merged over time. Think colourful beach huts, golden sand beaches, great bakeries and the Kallbadhus for a sauna and ocean dip. Torekov Situated on the Bjäre peninsula, Torekov is an idyllic swedish seaside town, offering scenic swimming spots, great seafood and even the chance of a glimpse of Hugh Grant at his summerhouse.. From Torekov, there is also the option of taking a boat over to the island of Hallands Värderö; a car-free, unspoilt nature reserve with swimming beaches, sea eagles and forest hiking trails. Malmo The nearest city to the wedding location, and chances are you'll pass through Malmo on your way at some point.Gamlastaden is lovely to wander around, and there are some great scandi food and drink spots around the city. Copenhagen Strictly speaking not in Skåne or indeed Sweden but since you're probably flying in via Copenhagen it would seem a shame to miss out on a visit to the capital full of tall, blonde and handsome Danes. Food: <a href="https://cafeogoelhalle.dk" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Cafè &amp; Ølhalle 1892 </a> (situated underneath the Worker's Museum, this is a hidden gem that serves all-you-can-eat smørrebrød and homemade danish schnapps - try and sit on the communal table if you can), <a href="https://etteetteette.dk/pompette/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Pompette</a> (natural wine bar, prepare to feel very unchic compared to the danish regulars) <a href="https://fiskebaren.dk/en/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Kødbyens Fiskebar</a> (situated in the docks of the meatpacking district, not the cheapest but amazing seafood and ambience) Culture: <a href="https://designmuseum.dk/en/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">The Design Museum</a> (very cool and amazing cafe in the courtyard) <a href="https://www.labanchina.dk" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">La Banchina</a> (situated out on the little peninsula of Refshaleøen past Freetown Christiana, this is an incredible spot where you can do yoga on the jetty, have a swim in the sea, warm up in their sauna and then dine at their farm-to-table 16-seat little restaurant afterwards), <a href="https://www.smk.dk/en/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Statens Museum for Kunst (SMK) </a>the danish national art gallery, the parks around Rosenborg Slot are gorgeous to walk through in the summer, stopping for coffee in the sun at <a href="https://www.herkulespavillonen.dk/en" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Herkules Pavillonen Café</a> in Kongens Have / The King's Garden.
